Follow the sea’s signals to l’Albir lighthouse

The tunnel, viewpoints and lighthouse silhouette provide little milestones beside the sea. Complete the l’Albir lighthouse path or turn back earlier, making the landscape a game of signals and distant landmarks.

Before you go

Who is it for?

Our idea: families prepared for about five kilometres there and back. With children who cannot walk far, choose a viewpoint as your goal and save energy for the return.

Planning your budget

The lighthouse route and visitor centre are free according to the 2026 inclusive guide by COCEMFE CV and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana. Your budget will depend on transport and food. Our suggestion: bring water and a snack for a stop along the way.

Booking

You can walk the route independently. The visitor centre has its own hours; ask about disruptions on +34 608 225 534. Guided group visits are arranged separately on +34 966 867 023 or at museovillaromana@lalfas.com.

When to go

Walk in daylight and only when there are no weather or fire alerts. The visitor centre has separate hours: in winter, Monday–Friday 09:00–14:00 and weekends 10:00–13:30. In July and August it opens earlier and on some afternoons; check the municipal programme if you want to enter.

Getting there and accessibility

The council identifies the main lighthouse path as accessible for people with reduced mobility, with a non-slip surface and a minimum width of 1.50 m. Distance and gradients still matter: plan assistance and breaks. The diversions to coves or mines are different routes.

What makes this place special

  • The lighthouse path is Serra Gelada’s red route.
  • The lighthouse was built in 1863 beside the remains of a 16th-century watchtower.
  • The walk passes through a tunnel and viewpoints, with references to ochre mines along the way.

A way to enjoy the visit

2–3 hours · editorial estimate, including stops

Route, duration and games suggested by Familybond; this is not a guided tour or an activity organised by the venue.

  1. Prepare your walk

At the starting information board, identify the main route and decide how far to walk.

  2. Stop and look

Choose viewpoints on the main path and look for landmarks on the horizon.

  3. A signal at sea

If you reach the lighthouse, imagine how its light helps a boat, then return along the same path.

A game to take with you

Invent a three-flash signal and explain what message you would send to an imaginary boat.

Ready for your day out

  • Bring water and sun protection.
  • Do not add descents to coves or mines as though they were equally easy.
  • Check park alerts.

Opening times, access and booking

The walk does not require booking a guided visit. Check the lighthouse visitor centre’s opening separately if you want to go inside. Walk in daylight and only when there are no weather or fire alerts. In winter, the centre opens Monday–Friday 09:00–14:00 and weekends 10:00–13:30. In July and August it opens earlier and on some afternoons; check the municipal programme.
